Pearl diving

Great mother ocean,

Sunlight stepping down,

Azure, and above, the light

Pierces water surface;

Sun separate but close,

Of fractured wavelengths,

Fades to black chambers,

To the core of biological revelation,

Where a confluence of life

Tells of foam origin and the under night

With the voice of a high reef's spray.

The sea contracts in contemplation,

Lingering in shells,

Coloured like the milk of insight,

White, like bone, like

The luminescent skin of

The hand that brings it to the waves,

Out of the pressure of inherited currents,

Out of the surge and pressure of thought.

Small moons light the wet dusk;

Blue, hold close my limbs, ghost currents.
