The Unborn Child

My love lies naked and unashamed

Between the sheets of my soul

The cold and the damp seeps

Like blood from my wounds

And I cry for I am lost

Deeper and deeper down into the abyss

I walk with silent steps

Too gentle to wake the sleeping child within

I am learning the art of solitude

Obeying what has been imposed

Too tired to walk any further

For the storm clouds gather round me

And I cry for I am lost

Deeper and deeper down into the abyss

I walk with silent steps

Too gentle to wake the sleeping child within

I gave life once more chance

I offered my hand in peace

But life replied with talons

Gouging the last of my trust

And I cry for I have lost

Deeper and deeper down into the abyss

I walk with silent steps

Too gentle to wake the sleeping child within

My soul is weak

My soul is dying

My inner scream begs

For the morphine sleep

So that I may nestle safe and sound

To sleep with the child within
