The Quickening

Sometimes I sit dazed and in wonder

My soul is confused and trembles

All that I ever asked for in prayer

Bestowed upon me

An angel's wing has brushed against my life

The soft downy feathers softening the hard contours

Bestowed upon my heart by others thoughtless deeds

No longer a shadow in a barren land

My mouth curls up into a smile

My thoughts run like the wind

They course through the time of you and I

Racing onwards to finally rest in my soul

When the night stars beckon

I slip gently into the sleep of my childhood

Arms wide open

Cradled in the warmth of your love

I am at peace

I am content

I am no longer afraid

To embrace all that is me

To embrace all that is you
