The embers of the fire glow deep red and orange
The blue flame that remains splutters into null
Tells me that it is time for sleep and dreams
For a new day awaits my arrival
I waken to the sound of traffic and city birds
Half asleep, half awake, I do not beg to differ
Dreams slip away like the silk from my skin
I hover between duty and indulgence
The covers warm and inviting
I rise and enter the cold of dawn
My body aching for a tender caress
Clothes envelope and hide my sad, sad form
I eat to sustain and nourish
My duty to my well being completed
I t is time to go
The door is open
I step out from my sanctuary
I step in to the onslaught of life
Carried along with the flotsam
I take my place within the well-oiled wheels of commerce
Obscure and replaceable
Is this what life is really all about?
The embers of the fire glow deep red and orange
They fuel my dreams and take me to faraway lands
And as they die my dreams die with them
It is time to sleep
For the new day has begun |
