Other Places

The journey has dropped me here,

part-way, where I’ve put down roots -

filled a space in the empty sky

and hammered fences around tall grass.

Seasons turn like dreams in frosted glass,

I watch the children’s lively play

until they grow too big and move away.

All this waiting for time to move me on

but my life seems fixed like stars to the dark

and I’m already beginning to call this place home.
