Rave

First published in QUANTUM LEAP No: 28 - November 2004

Summers breath,

not just a clock ticking

but a breeze sending pheromones

for bees to bathe in,

leading to orchids-

testicular, sexual;

exuding perfume,

mimicking striped costume

just irresistible for that bee-dance

amid life, pollen and sun;

urging the next love-making

as monogamy is not considered;

legs covered in golden love-dust

that tantalises, fertilises;

pollen baskets bulging.

Back to the hive, then a quick brush-up

and out to the next flower-power rave
