A Flower

(East Devon 2001)

A flower grows.

Earth smiles.

Officials send a fax. Cowboy on a horse.

Shouts greet the Man.

"We want more money!"

bring someone's flowers. Valleys of roses in the far lands have to be taken.

The owners - sleep in tents. Their kids don't have shoes.

No water so they take Coca Cola. Tokens of a dollar.

One of the kids throws stones. At the cowboy on a horse.

He shoots. Misses. Shoots. Misses.

The other kids kill him. He is dead.

His family cries.

Saying he was a good man. The thief.
