From Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, Freddy Macha (pronounced ''Matcha''} is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He has travelled, lived ,worked world-wide and is subsequently multi-lingual.
Founder and leader of the Kitoto Band based in London since 1996. Kitoto is one of the major traditional dance & percussion rhythms from Tanzania. The band''s sound is rooted in traditional African music, Latin American rhythms, African American and Caribbean jazz, blues and reggae.
Freddy Macha is essentially a writer of words and music. He co-founded the first Tanzanian multiple styles music and poetry group Sayari which toured Scandinavian countries and were highly acclaimed at the Oslo International Theatre Festival in 1984. |

| Having traveled widely he speaks and performs in several different languages. From 1998 to 2001 in Stoke Newington and Brixton Freddy held a popular event at Bar Lorca called World Music Nights at which musicians could meet and try out new material. |
